What’s Happening at Aslin Beer Company in Herndon This November (New Beers and Events)

I’ve lived in Herndon since 2002, and I can tell you the town has never had a better spot to land on a Tuesday night than Aslin Beer Company. It’s right on Elden Street, and November is one of their busiest months yet. Three new beers are on the way, and the calendar is full of things to do, so here’s what I’d put on your list.

Let’s start with the beer. Aslin just announced its November release, themed around holiday gatherings. First up is Tyson’s Grandma, an IPA brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops, then layered with pecan, cinnamon, maple, and vanilla. They’re pitching it as pecan pie in a can, and I’m curious how close it gets. Then there’s Main Course, a West Coast-style IPA with Idaho 7, Citra, Simcoe, and Chinook hops. It’s described as a clean, classic nod to the original IPAs, built to go with lunch or dinner. If you like your IPAs a little more dressed up, The Passion of Johann is a double IPA with Citra hops, fermented on passion fruit and Madagascar vanilla. The three are rolling out through the month, so check the draft list before you head over.

Now, the events, because this is where Aslin really shines for the neighborhood. On Wednesday, November 11, which is Veterans Day, Mind Your Mahjong hosts a mahjong night at 6:30 pm. As a Navy spouse of 37 years, I love seeing a Veterans Day event that’s more about gathering than anything formal. Tickets are through Eventbrite, so grab yours early.

The big one is Oysterfest on Saturday, November 14, from noon to 6 pm. It’s a one-day oyster and beer event, and it’s ticketed too. If you’ve got friends visiting or you’re hosting out-of-towners before the holidays, this is the kind of afternoon that makes people say they could live here. The next night, Sunday the 15th, Offsidez hosts Packs & Pints at 6:30 pm, a card night with beer. Then, on Thursday the 19th at 7 pm, Quirk Events brings Brew Feud, a crowd game night that I’d bet gets loud in the best way.

On Saturday the 21st, BodyBar runs a Pilates session from noon to 6 pm. It’s sold out as I write this, but there’s a waitlist. Then comes Black Friday, November 27. Aslin has an event at 11 am listed only with a teaser line about the woods, and they haven’t shared details yet. I’m as curious as you are. The holiday market, Snow Daze, lands Saturday, December 12, from noon to 5 pm, with vendors, holiday beers, and Santa. It’s a little past November, but it’s worth putting on the calendar now.

Beyond the one-offs, Aslin has a weekly rhythm that I think helps it work as a community spot. Monday trivia starts at 7 pm, and it’s free to play. Corsa Run Club meets Tuesdays at 6:30 pm, and runners come back for a beer afterward. On the second and fourth Tuesdays, Drafts & Drafts is a free, no-pressure reading night where you bring a book and meet other readers. And if you follow the English Premier League, Aslin opens early on weekend mornings for kickoff, with happy hour pricing until 11 am.

I talk to buyers all the time who want to know what living here is actually like beyond the house itself. This is a big part of the answer. A neighborhood taproom with trivia, runners, readers, card players, and a place to watch soccer at 7:30 on a Saturday morning is the kind of third place that makes a town feel like home. If you’re thinking about a move to 20170, spots like this are worth weighing as much as square footage.

Aslin is at 767 Elden Street in Herndon. The taproom is open Monday through Thursday from 11am to 10pm, Friday from 11 am to 11pm, Saturday from 10 am to 11pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 10pm. Food comes from IZZI, right there with the taproom. Event details and tickets change, so check aslinbeer.com/events before you go. Pick an event, bring a friend, and try one of the new beers for me. If you spot me there, come say hello.

If you have questions about anything here, I’m always just a call or text away. 202-409-7513.
